ADULT CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE (achd) Faculty Position

 

The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine and UW Heart Institute is recruiting a full-time Assistant, Associate, or full Professor (without tenure by reason of funding), Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) cardiologist to join the ACHD service at the University of Washington Medical Center. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and Professor WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.  The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.

 

The successful candidate will provide clinical care in the inpatient and outpatient settings focused on patients with congenital heart disease. Teaching will include bedside teaching in the inpatient setting and outpatient clinic and didactic lectures to Cardiology fellows and ACHD fellows. Clinical responsibilities would include ACHD clinic, inpatient ACHD consults, and regional outreach clinics. Additional clinical responsibilities such as ACHD echocardiography, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, cardio-obstetrics to be determined based on the candidate’s training and interests. 

 

The base salary range for this position will be $16,250-$41,667 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative salary supplement (ADS), and incentive through UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified/eligible in cardiovascular diseases (or foreign equivalent) and adult congenital heart disease (or foreign equivalent), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. The applicant should possess strong clinical skills in the management of ACHD patients. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of research and publication.  In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
