Title: Professor of Clinical Practice, Generalist Division, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Position Details

Position Description

The University of Washington (UW), Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is currently recruiting for up to three positions at the Professor rank, on the Clinical Practice Track. Full-/part-time status is negotiable. Positions are available effective January 1, 2025.

UW Medicine is the premier academic medical center in Washington state, encompassing four hospitals in the Seattle metro area and is the primary referral hospital for the five-state Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho (WWAMI) region. The department supports a residency program, and five fellowship programs and is a major teaching site for UW medical students. This position will be based at UWMC-Montlake as well as one or more of our outpatient clinical locations.

The academic clinician position is unique - one which combines the clinical setting, volume, and experience akin to private practice while having all the advantages of being within the university setting, with all the specialists, conferences, and teaching opportunities in reach. This faculty position will be responsible for direct patient care in general obstetrics and gynecology and will be expected to produce scholarly work either in education or research.

This individual will work at ambulatory clinical sites with diverse patient populations, and on the labor and delivery floor (if applicable) and in operating rooms with medical students and residents at UWMC-Montlake. The successful faculty member will have opportunities to participate in resident and medical student education including clinical teaching, didactics, simulation activities, and quality improvement/patient safety. Opportunities for career growth and leadership are available.

In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The successful candidate will work with and teach students and trainees, including medical students and OBGYN residents. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11-months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The base salary range for this position will be: $24,167 - $28,334 per month ($290,004 - $340,008 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Candidates will be expected to provide medical services at the University of Washington Medical Centers, train residents and medical students, and make academic contributions to the field.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington is committed to an inclusive environment and to reducing inequities in patient care through education, research, leadership and excellence in clinical care.
