The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Washington, School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time faculty member at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level (without tenure due to funding) to lead research in cardiac valve pathology and serve as Co-Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Innovation (CCVI) within the Division of Cardiology. Associate Professor and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.

 

The selected candidate will collaborate on research in cardiac valve pathology with members of the Division of Cardiology, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and other relevant faculty. They will also serve as Co-Director of the CCVI. The CCVI brings together experts in cardiology, cardiac surgery, radiology, and engineering to collaborate in the development, testing, and clinical implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular devices. In addition, the Center provides hands-on training through dissection and cadaveric perfusion. Teaching duties may include lab-based mentorship with students and fellows, classroom instruction, hands-on training, or Cardiology Grand Rounds and other conferences. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The anticipated start date will be January 1, 2025.

 

The base salary range for this position will be $10,000-$20,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative salary supplement (ADS).

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field. Successful candidates must have an academic track record with evidence of publications in the field of cardiac valve pathology.
