The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology, is offering an outstanding opportunity to join our faculty for an Inpatient Rehabilitation Psychologist at Seattle Children’s Hospital. This will be a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (without tenure due to source of funding, which is typical of ranked faculty appointments within the department). Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2025, but other dates may be considered.

As a member of the Division of Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology, the successful candidate will participate in clinical, research, and teaching activities and will be expected to fulfill requirements for advancement along the Clinician-Educator pathway of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine. Clinical responsibilities will include patient care on the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The successful candidate may have opportunity to collaborate with existing research teams and will participate in the training of Rehabilitation Psychology Fellows and Residents, as well as to participate in formal teaching sessions such as presentations to the department or through the Psychology Training Program.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
COMPENSATION
The base salary range for this position will be $8,800 - $11,494 per month ($105,600 - $ 137,928 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include any of the following: Children’s University Medical Group practice plan, moving allowance, relocation incentive, if applicable.

Key research focus areas include limb loss, pain, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, brain injury, and disability. Our faculty collaborate extensively with other departments within the School of Medicine, as well as with outside institutions. In fiscal year 2023, our department researchers received more than $15.7 million in awards from government and private sources. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD), and the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR)/ Administration for Community Living (ACL) were our top sponsors, comprising a total of 72% of the awards we received. In addition, our departmental faculty who are based at VA Puget Sound Health Care System have a total of $21.8 million in current funding.
The department has four clinical divisions: General Physiatry, Sports and Spine Physiatry, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology. Faculty provide clinical services across four UW Medicine campuses: Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake, University of Washington Medical Center-Northwest, and UW Eastside Specialty Center. More than 25 of our faculty are based at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, which are UW Medicine-affiliated organizations. The Sports and Spine division provides care at seven clinics throughout the UW Medicine system.

Qualifications
- Applicants must have a PhD, PsyD, or foreign equivalent from an APA-accredited clinical psychology graduate school program.
- Must have completed an APA/CPA-accredited internship program.
- Must have successful completion of a postdoctoral fellowship/residency in a pediatric health setting.
- Must be licensed or license eligible to practice Psychology in the State of Washington.
