Position Description

The University of Washington Tacoma (UW Tacoma) invites applications for multiple criminal justice part-time lecturer (temporary) positions in the School of Social Work and Criminal Justice. Appointments are part-time, quarterly, and the number of courses available per year varies based upon curricular needs. Course areas may include but are not limited to those in Introduction to Criminal Justice, American Criminal Courts, Helping Skills in the Criminal Justice System, Adult Corrections and Introduction to Criminal Justice Research. We are particularly interested in individuals who teach from a social justice perspective.

This is a part-time position with quarterly (3-month) service periods that begin on September 16, December 16, and March 16.

Days and times of instruction and/or modalities (in-person, hybrid, or asynchronous online) are to be negotiated with the caveat that online teaching requires certification by the University of Washington.

UW Tacoma’s commitment to diversity is central to maintaining an atmosphere wherein students, staff, faculty, and residents find abundant opportunities for intellectual, personal, and professional growth. The successful candidate is expected to support diverse student populations through inclusive teaching practices and will integrate effective pedagogical techniques and technologies into teaching and learning.
