Position Description

The Division of Transplant Surgery Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine is accepting applications for a full-time, Transplant surgeon faculty position at the Associate Professor or Professor rank without tenure by reason of funding. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The salary and rank is commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date of early calendar year 2025.

 

The position will be primarily based at UW Medical Center – Montlake and the successful candidate will participate in surgical transplantation procedures, clinics, candidate selection, pre and post operative care, and donor organ evaluation and recovery. Depending on the candidate’s experience and clinical need, this position might be expected to contribute to the Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) transplant program by taking call, participating in surgical transplantation procedures, and providing pre and post operative care. Leadership role(s) may be available depending on candidate’s experience. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

 

At the rank of Associate Professor (WOT): The base salary range for this position will be: $35,000 - $39,167 per month ($420,000 - $470,004 annually). At the rank of Professor (WOT): The base salary range for this position will be: $42,500 - $46,667 per month ($510,000 - $560,004 annually). Base salaries at all ranks will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through UWP and administrative supplements for surgical direction of the Liver Transplantation and Living Donor Liver Transplantation programs.   Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Requirements for this position include: MD degree (or foreign equivalent), board eligibility (or foreign equivalent) in surgery, successful completion of a transplant surgery fellowship, and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.  

 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
