Position Description

The University of Washington (UW), Department of Dermatology is currently recruiting for up to 7 positions at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank, on the Clinical Practice Track. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34 . Full/part-time status is negotiable. Positions are available effective September 1, 2024; specific start date is negotiable. The UW Department of Dermatology includes 35 paid faculty members across 6 different clinical sites (Roosevelt, Harborview, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, South Lake Union, Eastside Specialty Center, VA Puget Sound) and over 30 staff members. This position will be based at one or more of the following University of Washington Dermatology clinical sites: Roosevelt, HMC, FHCC, South Lake Union, or Eastside Specialty Center. 

Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The successful applicant will be expected to have primarily outpatient dermatology clinical responsibilities, and engage in teaching medical students and resident trainees. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, candidates who have an established record of clinical care, teaching, and research in the area of Dermatology. 

Salary: The base salary range for this position will be: $26,667 - $40,834 per month ($320,004- $490,008 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. 

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an MD (or foreign equivalent), medical licensure in the state of Washington and Board Eligibility or Certification in Dermatology (or foreign equivalent) by the start date of employment. 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
