Position Description
The Department of Medicine, University of Washington (UW) is recruiting a full-time Assistant Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT), to join the Division of Gastroenterology based at University of Washington Medical Center. Assistant professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Anticipated start date will be September 1, 2024.
The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to be involved in clinical, basic or translational research in gastroenterology with a preference for pancreaticobiliary research. It is expected the candidate will secure extramural funding in this area. This position will participate in clinical care of gastroenterology patients, including providing inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultative services and endoscopy services. Teaching responsibilities would involve course instruction and/or oversight of medical students, residents, and fellows during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, in concert with the GI Fellowship program.
The base salary range for this position will be: $18,750- $21,500 per month ($225,000- $258,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include Monthly Additional Compensation (MAC) with a range of: $3,000-$6,000 per month ($36,000- $72,000 annually). This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold either a MD (or foreign equivalent), or MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent) and must be Board certified or eligible in Gastroenterology (or foreign equivalent), and eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
Candidates must have demonstrated research expertise in gastroenterology and pancreaticobiliary, a track record of published academic contributions, and clinical competency in gastroenterology and/or hepatology and endoscopy.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
