Position Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine is seeking a clinical neurophysiologist/epileptologist to work at the University of Washington Medical Center.  This individual will be a member of a busy academic service performing a wide variety of clinical neurophysiology studies, including interpretation of routine EEGs, ICU and epilepsy video EEG monitoring, intraoperative monitoring, and evoked potentials.  The successful candidate will also participate in outpatient and inpatient care of patients with epilepsy.  Development of a clinical research program in epilepsy would be encouraged but is not required.  The individual will be affiliated with the UW Regional Epilepsy Center, the largest clinical epilepsy program in the Pacific Northwest, with a high volume epilepsy surgical program. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. 

This is a full-time appointment and is a Open rank (without tenure for reasons due to funding). The rank is commensurate with qualification and experience.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $18,320 - $21,462 per month ($219,840 to $257,544 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  The base salary range for this position in this title will be $20,199 - $24,167 per month ($242,388 to $290,004 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

The anticipated start date of this appointment is July 1, 2025. 

Qualifications

Requires an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent. Completion of a clinical neurophysiology or epilepsy fellowship training program is required. Must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
