Position Description

The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking applicants to fill a full-time faculty position as an Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure due to funding). This position will be based at University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) in Seattle, Washington. Assistant professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

This position will have an active research program. The successful candidate will be expected to lead a nationally recognized research program in computational biology with relevance to rheumatology. Additional duties may include inpatient and outpatient attending duties with the responsibility to teach residents and fellows and, in the laboratory, to mentor research scientists and postdoctoral fellows. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The anticipated start date will be July 1, 2024.

The base salary range for this position will be: $14,167 - $16,667 per month ($170,004 - $200,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the [UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must have an M.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) with board-certification in rheumatology (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington, with a proven track record of securing extramural funding. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
