Lecturer in Speech/Language Pathology

9-month appointment plus possibility of additional teaching in the three summer months; this position is non-tenure eligible.

Permanent Part-Time (0.8 FTE)

Responsibilities

The Lecturer will be responsible for clinical education and supervision of students completing practica in evaluation and treatment of children with developmental disorders at the University of Washington Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. The applicant may be involved in undergraduate and graduate didactic teaching within the department and will be expected to serve on department committees. The Lecturer will have the opportunity for leadership roles that contribute to the vision and mission of the clinic, department and university. The Department is eager to welcome colleagues with expertise in school-based services, multilingual/multicultural services, AAC, autism, childhood apraxia of speech, and early intervention. This position may include administrative responsibilities pertaining to the pediatric team’s scheduling, waitlist, deployment, program development, and resource management.

Salary and Benefits 

Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position will be $6,600 —$10,000  per month on a 9-month basis ($59,400 - $90,000 annually), at 80% of the full-time rate. The salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.                              

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience; a full range of fringe benefits is available.

 

Qualifications

A minimum of five years of experience in clinical speech/language pathology with pediatric populations.  The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in evidence-based assessment and treatment of developmental speech and language disorders. The required credential for applicants is the Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), meeting ASHA’s student supervision requirements, current licensure or eligibility for Speech/Language Pathologist licensure in Washington State, and a MA/MS or PhD in Speech/Language Pathology. Positive factors for consideration will be given to candidates with prior experience in university-based clinical supervision of students engaged in pediatric assessment and treatment practica.
