Position Description

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington, and the Fred Hutch Pathology Section seeks one (1) full-time academic pathologist focused on GI pathology, autopsy pathology, and transplant pathology, as an Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure), due to reasons of funding, to join our faculty group on the clinician-educator pathway. Each year the GI pathology subspecialty service evaluates approximately 14,500 surgical specimens and 600 transplant specimens while our autopsy pathology group evaluates approximately 300 autopsies. Faculty in the Fred Hutch Pathology - Transplant Pathology group have well-funded research laboratories and collaborate extensively with members of allied Departments to include teaching, research, and clinical service.

The successful candidate will provide autopsy services focusing on the FHCC Transplant service as well as participate in UW GI and FHCC Transplant pathology services. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in fellow, resident, and medical student teaching.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position will be $18,874 to $21,852 per month ($226,493 to $262,228 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This position remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024, but is flexible.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-certified in Anatomic Pathology, and GI pathology (American Board of Pathology). Must have a current license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
