The University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking two (2) Associate Professors without tenure (WOT) due to funding at 1.00 FTE for the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and Harborview Medical Center (HMC). The Department of Emergency Medicine encompasses the UWMC main, the UWMC-Northwest Hospital (NWH), and the Harborview Medical Center Emergency Departments.

Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date is May 1, 2024 or thereafter. Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and supervision of clinical care team within the UW Emergency Department(s). All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The UW DEM supports a 4-year Emergency Medicine Residency Program and several fellowships.

The base salary for this position will be $21,667 – $24,167 per month ($260,004 - $290,004 per annum) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determination and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position includes a guaranteed incentive of $4,167 - $5,834 per month ($50,004 - $70,008 per annum) through UW Physicians practice plan, and may also include a relocation incentive and administrative supplement dependent upon your role within the department.

Qualifications

  • Candidates for this position must hold an M.D. degree (or foreign equivalent).
  • Candidates must possess or be eligible for full medical licensure in Washington State. Must be board prepared/eligible in Emergency Medicine.
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
