Position Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine is seeking a research scientist to join the Department of Neurology to carry out research on the role of neuroinflammation in neurological disorders.  The applicant  will establish an independent research program focused on neuroimmune responses in neurodevelopmental disorders and work closely with Dr. Jonathan Weinstein, a senior investigator in the Department of Neurology with a research program focused on neuroimmune responses in ischemic brain injury.

The successful candidate will be based at UW Medical Center Montlake Campus where there are a number of successful investigators present from multiple departments focused on neuroimmune responses with a broad range of disciplines and disease-focused research programs. The applicant will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities for neuroimaging, neuroimmunological assays, sequencing, gene expression, bioinformatics and animal care.  UW faculty engage in teaching, research and service. This position is intended for full-time research without clinical responsibilities.

This is a full-time, 12-month service period appointment, at the Assistant Professor (without tenure due to funding) rank. 

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $8,334 - $9,584 per month ($100,008 to $115,008 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

Title, rank and salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date of this appointment is March 1, 2024.

Qualifications

A PhD (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field is required.
