Position Description

The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has a full-time academic position available at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, with clinical duties at Seattle Children's Hospital. 

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. 

The anticipated start date is in Winter or Spring 2024, but is flexible. Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students. The successful candidate will provide hematopathology services at Seattle Children’s Hospital.  University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

This position is paid directly by Seattle Children’s Hospital and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to Seattle Children’s Hospital for information about compensation for this position.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-eligible or Board–certified (or foreign equivalent) in Clinical Pathology (American Board of Pathology). Candidates must be Board-eligible or Board–certified in Hematopathology (American Board of Pathology) and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington. Subspecialty expertise in Hematopathology is required.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
