The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) are jointly recruiting two (2) full-time faculty member in the UW Division of Hematology and Oncology, specializing in research and clinical care of patients with breast cancer. This position would be at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank (without tenure due to funding), commensurate with experience and qualifications, and include an equivalent appointment at Fred Hutch. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing funded clinical and laboratory research programs related to the biology and treatment of cancer. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop his/her own clinical research program. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of housestaff and fellows during ambulatory and inpatient activities and delivery of lectures to housestaff, fellows, and the general medical community. This position will be expected to fulfill our commitment to institutional service and diversity, equity and inclusion.
The base salary range for this position will be: $21,250 - $28,167 per month ($255,000 - $338,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Anticipated start date would be March 1, 2024.
Qualifications
The candidate should have a demonstrated record in clinical research with a primary focus on breast cancer.
Requirements include MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), completion of a fellowship in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) eligible or certified in Medical Oncology or Hematology (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
