Position Description

The Department of Medicine, University of Washington (UW) is recruiting a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Nephrology based at University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake. This position will be at the rank of Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT). Full professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Anticipated start date will be January 1, 2024. 

This position will serve as a senior nephrologist specializing in the care of nephrology patients with oncologic comorbidities and will be based at UW Medical Center-Montlake and Fred Hutch Cancer Center. Candidates will be expected to participate in clinical care, patient-oriented research and scholarly work in the field of nephrology. The selected candidate will be expected to publish scholarly work. As a faculty member, duties will include clinical care, teaching on clinical service, and mentoring junior faculty. The base salary range for this position will be: $22,000 - $28,000 per month ($264,000 to $336,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications

Candidates should have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified in Nephrology (or foreign equivalent). The candidate must have completed a nephrology fellowship within the United States. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.  Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.
