Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) is proud to be one of the nation’s premier educational and research institutions. Our people are the most important asset in our pursuit of achieving excellence in education, research, and community service.

UW Continuum College expands the reach of the University of Washington by delivering educational programs that meet the needs of learners at all phases of their lives. We’re focused on removing obstacles to relevant educational opportunities by addressing geographic, financial, length of commitment, and time constraints, increasing access to knowledge for more people. As a diverse community that values inclusivity and collaboration, we foster a respectful, supportive workplace where innovation comes to life. By looking ahead and experimenting with new approaches, we’re creating new educational opportunities to help people thrive in a world of change.

UW Continuum College (UWC2) has an outstanding opportunity for a customized course developer, or developers, in the new International Business Intelligence for Global Entrepreneurship (IBIGE) program. Using detailed templates and guidance provided by UWC2, the subject matter expert will create a weekly curriculum map for the IBIGE program as detailed below.

The pay range for this position is $40-50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Length of assignments and shifts vary depending on specific staffing needs of individual courses and programs. These positions are part-time and are expected to last from August 1, 2023, and September 22, 2023.

Program Description: International Business Intelligence for Global Entrepreneurship

In this nine-month professional certificate program, modeled after the successful Global Business Certificate Program, international professionals learn how to find, manage, understand, and explain data for the purpose of effectively identifying business opportunities, writing business plans, and pitching data-supported business plans to investors.

Each quarter of the three-quarter program is one course. Quarters 1 and 2 contain multiple intensive themed modules to be drawn from related UW PCE certificate content in data analysis, visualization, storytelling, and entrepreneurship. Quarter 3 requires development of two concurrent modules (one AM, one PM) of a new course focused on making effective business pitches using the skills practiced during Quarter 1 and 2.

It is anticipated that upon successful completion of the full program, students will be eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT), which allows for up to 1-year of work experience in the United States, including self-employment to start a new business.
