Position Description

The University of Washington’s (UW) Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). This position would be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, without tenure due to reasons of funding (WOT). Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Associate and full professors WOT) hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date would be January 1, 2024.

This faculty position will serve as the Director of Outpatient Dialysis at UW, overseeing the large and growing UW dialysis pratice in the Puget Sound region.  Additionally, the faculty member will participate in ambulatory dialysis and general nephrology care, and attend on the inpatient consult services. Participation in extramurally-funded research or other scholarship is encouraged, but not required.  University of Washington facultly engate in teaching, research, and service.

The base salary range for this position will be: $20,000 - $25,000 per month ($240,000 - $300,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Qualifications

  • Successful candidates are expected to have demonstrated successful scholarship in the area of dialysis care (in-center and/or home dialysis) as evidenced by their C.V.
  • In order to be eligible for University Sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
  • Applicants must have an MD, DO, (or foreign equivalent)
  • ABIM board certified or eligible in Nephrology (or foreign equivalent)
  • Completion of an ACGME nephrology fellowship (or foreign equivalent)
