The University of Washington School of Social Work seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor who will engage in teaching, curriculum development, and research dedicated to social equity and justice, using research and practice-based evidence to inform their teaching.

The school’s mission is to promote social and economic justice for poor and oppressed populations. SSW Faculty are committed to anti-racism and to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

This is a non-tenure track and promotion eligible position, promotion assessed based on school and university criteria. The start date will be no later than September 16, 2023. It has a 9-month service period, multi-year (3-to-5-year) renewable contract at 100% FTE, with summer salary available based on curricular need. The base salary range for this position will be $7000 - $9000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

University of Washington teaching faculty engage in teaching, scholarship, and service. Service may include: program assessment and administration; curriculum development; mentorship of graduate student instructors; and service on departmental/campus committees. The successful candidate will be expected to advance the teaching mission of the School, teaching across modalities (i.e., remote, hybrid, in-person teaching, and/or teaching with technology), in accordance with accessible and equity-oriented pedagogies, and/or public or community-engaged teaching. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, a PhD or Doctorate in Social Work (DSW), and an LICSW.

Qualifications

MSW from a CSWE accredited program or foreign equivalent

Minimum of five years of full-time post-MSW practice experience in any area of social work

Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level.

Teaching and practice expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion
