Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) are jointly recruiting for a full-time faculty member in the Division of Medical Oncology, specializing in clinical research and clinical care of patients with breast cancer. This position would be at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level (without tenure due to funding). Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of housestaff and fellows during ambulatory and inpatient activities and delivery of selected lectures to housestaff and the general medical community. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing funded clinical and laboratory research programs related to the biology and therapy of cancer. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop his/her own clinical research program. The position will also involve participation in the clinical and instructional activities of the Division of Medical Oncology. 

The base salary range for this position will be: $21,250 - $28,167 per month ($255,000 - $338,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Anticipated start date would be September 1, 2023.

Qualifications

The candidate should have a demonstrated record in clinical research with a primary focus on breast cancer.

Requirements include MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), completion of a fellowship in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) eligible or certified in Medical Oncology or Hematology (or foreign equivalent). In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
