Position Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine is seeking to hire an Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in the Teaching Associate faculty title (ARNP or PA credentials) to provide clinical care for patients with neurological and related diseases at the UW Medicine Alvord Brain Tumor Center (ABTC).  This position can be appointed at .60 , .80 or 1.0 FTE.  This position will be responsible for patient education, working with other neurologist team members, and facilitating quality care during active chemotherapy treatment. Collaborating with all team members including the UW ABTC, pharmacist, nursing staff, non-medical supportive staff, and research staff. The ABTC APP will provide interdisciplinary care, concentrating on neuro-oncology care, with close collaboration with radiation oncology and neurosurgery care at the ABTC.

The base salary range for this position will be $9,166 - $12,500 per month ($109,992 - $150,000 per year) for 1.0 FTE, and will be prorated for FTE below a 1.0. Salary is commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

Teaching associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.   

The Anticipated start date is November 1, 2023.

Qualifications

Requirements include Current, valid, and unencumbered Washington State Registered Nurse and Advanced Registered Nurse Licensure with prescriptive authority or PA licensure. Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program or foreign equivalent. Certification by a national board certifying organization. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment. Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in inpatient care. Clinical expertise in neuroscience disorders and oncology is preferred but not required. 

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing services independently and collaboratively with appropriate privileges, including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patient’s medical and psychosocial status.
