Position Description
The VA Puget Sound Health Care System and the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine invite applications for a full-time academic surgeon at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT) or Associate Professor WOT for the position of vascular surgeon.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The expected start date is Spring/Summer 2023. This position will be based at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle.
The VA Puget Sound Health Care System and the University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. VA Puget Sound is an integral part of the clinical, academic, and educational programs of the Department of Surgery, with full participation of residents, fellows and students from the University of Washington. Accordingly, the successful candidate is expected to be involved in the full range of activities of the Vascular Surgery Division, including clinical service, research, and teaching.
This position is paid directly by the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to the VA for information about compensation for this position.

Qualifications
Requirements for this position include: MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification (or foreign equivalent) in vascular and endovascular surgery.
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
