Position Description

The Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition, Department of Medicine, University of Washington is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor WOT (without tenure due to funding). Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.  This academic position will involve both outpatient and inpatient clinical care, with a focus on outpatient diabetes management, teaching, and scholarly activities in the areas of diabetes and endocrinology.  The candidate will be expected to conduct translational, and/or clinical research in the area of diabetes.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The new hire will also contribute to clinical teaching through resident and fellow education and provide clinical service in the Endocrinology clinic and/or inpatient consultation service.  

Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for Assistant or Associate Professor WOT will be: $16,000 - $20,000 per month ($192,000 - $240,000 annually) commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. This position is anticipated to start on August 1. 2023.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD (or foreign equivalent), board certification in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent) and have prior expertise in academic medicine. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
