Position Description

The Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, at the University of Washington, invites applications for a non-tenure faculty position at the rank of Professor of Practice, (initially 50% FTE, 9-month appointment with opportunities for expansion). The anticipated start date for this position is September 2023.

This position helps the Evans School benefit from the expertise of those with senior executive leadership and management experience at various levels of government or in private sector government relations.  As a top, nationally ranked policy school, we know that our professional students benefit from the ability to learn from experienced leaders.

The responsibilities will include teaching two to three courses per year in the School’s education programs, including the Master’s of Public Administration (MPA), Executive Master’s in Public Administration (EMPA), and other graduate professional certificates. There are potential additional responsibilities, including developing client-based capstone projects and working with senior leaders in the Evans Policy Innovation Collaborative (EPIC). 

The successful candidate should have extensive leadership and management experience in public sector organizations. We are interested in individuals with expertise in budget preparation, performance management, legislative processes, budget execution, and revenue administration. Individuals with expertise in state and local government taxes policy and revenue administration are preferred. The successful candidate should possess the ability to engage in high-quality teaching and be motivated to develop and apply an array of pedagogical approaches to support professional education. A candidate who possesses an extensive network in local or regional public sector organizations will be particularly welcomed.

The full time equivalent base salary range for this position will be $13,000-$17,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in finance or related field, with a minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience.

Instructions
