Position Description

Applicants are invited for a postdoctoral position at the University of Washington, School of Medicine. This position is searching for an entry-level postdoctoral scholar, and will be given the title Post-doctoral Scholar. 

  • Postdoctoral level researcher.  Minimum 3 years salary support with University of Washington benefits.
  • Initial project aims focus on studying hippocampal and neocortical interactions during language behavior paradigms.
  • Will be expected to do extensive computational coding and analytical background 
  • Data sources:
    • Intracranial EEG local field potential recordings
    • Behnke-Fried microelectrode recordings for single neuron isolation
    • Responsive neurostimulation devices
    • Micro- and macro-electrode recordings during deep brain stimulation

The anticipated start date is 3/1/23. This is an annually renewed (12 month service period) appointment.

Postdoctoral scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. For more information, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website.

Salary will be commensurate with research experience and based on the NIH guidelines for postdoctoral trainees.

Qualifications

Eligible applicants should have a Ph.D. in neuroscience, bioengineering, computer science, a related field or foreign equivalent. The University of Washington is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and training histories.

  • Skills/experience:
    • Extensive computational coding and analytical background (Python, Matlab); comfort with time series and single unit analysis
    • Experience or interest in applying machine learning / deep learning methods for modeling complex cognitive functions
    • Experience or interest in developing language related behavioral task paradigms
    • Experience or interest in mentoring medical and graduate students
