Position Description

University of Washington Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC) are recruiting a full-time faculty member for an appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank (without tenure due to funding), to join a thriving, highly productive and collegial lymphoma service at the FHCC in Seattle, the cancer program for University of Washington Medicine.  The selected candidate would be expected to provide clinical care related to lymphoma. The candidate would also build a clinical research program in a focused area of lymphoma. Teaching activities for this position include mentoring, attending on clinical service, lectures/conferences, and supervising.  Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments, and associate and full professors WOT hold indefinite appointments, that all align with a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July – June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Position will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2023.

The base salary range for this position will be: $21,250 - $32,667 per month ($255,000 - $392,004 annually) commensurate with experience, qualifications, and rank or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation for this position may include incentives.

NOTE: This position will require work to be performed on-site at a Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) facility. FHCC requires all individuals, including University of Washington faculty clinicians, working at an FHCC facility to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Unlike UW’s vaccination policy which is appended below, the FHCC policy does not provide for religious or medical exemptions. As such, a UW offer associated with this recruitment is contingent upon, among other things, the preferred candidate demonstrating that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by no later than the commencement of their appointment.

Qualifications

The selected candidate must have an MD (or foreign equivalent). ABIM certification in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology (or foreign equivalent) is also required.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
