Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) Tacoma invites applications for a Lecturer of Mathematics in the Division of Science and Mathematics (SAM) within the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (SIAS) to teach sections of lower division undergraduate courses in mathematics (TMATH 115 Precalculus I and/or TMATH 120 Precalculus) in Winter quarter 2023 with instruction dates of January 3 – March 10.

The base salary range for this position will be $1750 per month per 5-credit course (0.33 FTE) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or M.S. degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics or related field. Priority will be given to candidates with previous experience teaching introductory level math courses at the undergraduate level.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to supporting diverse student populations through inclusive teaching practices and will integrate effective pedagogical techniques and technologies into teaching/learning to help students achieve competency/mastery in mathematical reasoning and application.

  • Evidence of teaching effectives (this might include: quantitative course evaluations, sample syllabi and/or peer teaching evaluations).
