Position Description
The University of Washington Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology is recruiting a full-time faculty member for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank without tenure due to funding (WOT). This position would be based at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and University of Washington in Seattle. The selected candidate would develop a research program in classical hematology, focusing on sickle cell disease. The selected candidate would see nonmalignant hematology patients at the at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and the Odessa Brown Clinic. Teaching duties would include attending on the inpatient and outpatient clinical services, mentoring residents, students, and fellows, and classroom instruction in the Blood and Cancer course. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Position will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2023, but could be earlier.
The base salary range for this position will be: $21,250 - $24,334 per month ($255,000 - $292,008 annually) commensurate with experience, qualifications, and rank or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation for this position may include incentives.
Qualifications
The selected candidate must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and subspecialty training in Hematology or Hematology/Oncology (or foreign equivalent). In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
