Position Description

The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington invites applications for one or two full-time (12-month service period) positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor without Tenure (WOT).  The goal is to hire either two assistant professors without tenure (WOT) or one assistant professor without tenure (WOT) and one associate professor without tenure (WOT) - depending on the application pool.

This position is open to candidates with subspecialty expertise in all areas of epidemiology; current areas of growth in the Department of Epidemiology include aging, genetic epidemiology, social determinants of health, injury, or reproductive health epidemiology. Persons with expertise in these areas are especially encouraged to apply.

 In addition to research activities, the faculty member will be responsible for teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses focused on epidemiology and research methods.  The balance between teaching and research activities will be developed based on the candidate’s interests, experience, and long-term career goals. Candidates will also be expected to demonstrate  leadership and outstanding communication skills as well as speak to/promote their commitment to diversity, equity and inclusiveness.  

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have a PhD or foreign equivalent in epidemiology or a closely related field as well as a record of research, teaching, and service consistent with the mission of the Department of Epidemiology. Competitive candidates will have either a demonstrated track record of securing funding for their research activities or demonstrated potential to do so.

  • Two samples of research publications

Salary will be commensurate with education, training and experience, and includes a generous benefits package. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2019.  Evaluation of candidates will begin by February 19, 2019 and applications will be accepted until the position(s) is (are) filled.
