The Department of Radiology at the University of Washington is seeking a full-time radiologist interested in pursuing an academic career in Body Imaging at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, non-tenure track.The Body Imaging Section consists of 18 faculty members and 9 fellows.  We are a large, diverse section with an extensive track record of academic success including over 1500 scientific publications, 150 book chapters, and 2,000 scholarly presentations along with multiple research grants either as principal investigators or co-investigators.  We all have protected academic time which can increase with grant funding.  We have ample clinical and research resources, including access to cutting-edge technology from GE Healthcare and Philips Medical Imaging.  Clinically, we cover the full scope of academic Body Imaging and Imaging-Guided Intervention.  We also have active educational programs with a required medical student rotation, 48 dedicated Radiology residents, and 9 Body Imaging Fellows per year.The successful candidate will have clinical responsibilities for interpreting body ultrasound, computed tomography, MR, and fluoroscopy.  In addition, faculty members will have the opportunity to staff tumor boards and related conferences to empower patient care and to build relations with the clinicians.  Participation in departmental outreach as appropriate is expected.  A successful candidate will participate actively in all of our research, education, and clinical endeavors.Our department provides ample meeting and vacation time and an excellent fringe benefits package, including lifelong health insurance, several retirement plans, disability insurance, and access to all University facilities.  Seattle is consistently ranked among the top three urban areas for quality of life, with superb recreation and outdoor activities nearby and a very temperate climate.  It is very family-friendly with excellent schools and nearby extensive sports and outdoors activities. About the Department of Radiology and Body Imaging Section:UW School of Medicine is a ranked second in the world, with UW Hospital ranked #1 in Washington.  The Department of Radiology has 134 clinical and research faculty including physicians, scientists, and APP’s.  We build the next generation of healthcare providers through 105 residents, fellows, and post-doctoral students.  We have an incredibly talented staff and leadership team. Our healthcare strives to be more accessible, less invasive, with lower cost yet better outcomes.   All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.Body Imaging Section faculty members are all fellowship trained with experience in all modalities yet with focused expertise as well.  Clinical Ultrasound is an active service that enjoys close relationships with all departments in the hospital, including high-risk obstetrical and transplantation patients.  State of the art wide-detector and dual energy CT and multiple new 1.5T plus 3T MR perform all aspects of abdominal and thoracic imaging.  Fluoroscopy work includes bariatric patients and urology patients as well. Imaging Guided Body interventions enjoys dedicated facilities and staff – its own multi-slice CT, two dedicated ultrasound rooms, dedicated physician assistants, nursing, scheduling, and support staff.Candidates for this position must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree or foreign equivalent, be board certified in radiology or foreign equivalent, and have a strong desire for a career in academic radiology.  Candidates must be eligible to obtain a medical license in the state of Washington.  In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
