Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) is recruiting for a full-time Assistant Professor (without tenure due to funding) in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine. Patient care efforts will primarily occur at Harborview Medical Center. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in clinical duties and conduct research in improving goals-of-care discussions for patients with chronic life-limiting illness. This individual will have teaching duties that include attending on clinical services and mentoring residents and fellows.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with an annual service period of 12 months (July 1–June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July–June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated start date would be July 2023.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

Requirements include an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and Board Eligibility or Certification in both Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (or foreign equivalent).  

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduate of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
