Position Description

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Washington has two Teaching Associate faculty positions available.  These positions are part-time and full-time.  Will serve as ARNPs/PAs as a member of the Pre-Anesthesia clinic team at University of Washington Medical Center providing consultation and screening of patients requiring anesthesia services.  The APP is responsible for performing a pre-anesthesia evaluation for complex patients scheduled for surgery and/or procedures independently or under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. The pre-anesthesia evaluation includes performing a basic medical exam, taking pertinent medical/surgical/social history, ordering appropriate laboratory tests and studies, interpreting results of diagnostic tests, and recording the completed evaluation in the electronic medical record.  Orientation and training will include time spent in the preoperative areas, operating room and recovery rooms. Length and extent of orientation will be dependent upon the individual needs of the APP.

 

Qualifications

Current and valid Washington state Registered Nurse Licensure and APP (ARNP/PA Licensure).

Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or PA-C Program. Nationally certified APP with DEA.

Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment.

Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients requiring inpatient services.

Training and experience in pre-anesthetic evaluations preferred.
