The Gastrointestinal (GI) APP will be working collaboratively with Abdominal Radiologists and interact with referring physicians, nurses, and other allied health staff to provide all aspects of high-quality patient care in a dynamic Radiology procedural and diagnostic practice that includes hospital inpatients, and outpatients.  The APP will be mentored closely by multiple Radiology Faculty to include those from GI and GU fluoroscopy procedures performed by the division.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform GI fluoroscopy exams independently, after training and privileges submitted and granted by OMSA (including Speech video swallow, Esophagram, UGI, SBFT, and Barium Enema) with the in-person or remote backup of a radiologist.  Some of these procedures may also be done in collaboration with other non-radiology providers (e.g. Speech Language Pathology)
  • Communicate with the radiology residents and fellows about the day’s exams and their possible involvement
  • Dictate Final (if APP will be billing for procedure) reports on the procedure portion of the exam and independently sign or co-sign with the supervising radiologist.
  • Caring for patients in Pre- and Post-Procedure phases of care
  • Help streamline the fluoroscopy processes and protocols
  • Reviewing history and physical exam for patient related discussions and management
  • Obtaining consents as needed
