Position Description

The Division of Politics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs of the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington Tacoma is hiring a temporary lecturer or lecturers in Economics and Public Policy for the 2022–2023 academic year. We are seeking economists to teach Introduction to Macroeconomics as well as upper division classes contributing to a major in Economics and Policy Analysis.

These are non-renewable positions, beginning September 16, 2022, that require teaching between three and seven classes over three quarters (with no more than four course preparations) and are contingent on funding. The teaching schedule will be determined collaboratively in consideration of the candidates’ expertise and Division needs. These are non-tenure track positions. The base salary range for this position will be $1750 per month per 5-credit course (0.33 FTE) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Qualifications

Candidates must have experience teaching university-level courses as well as have a PhD or be ABD from a program in Economics or a closely related field. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or have visa status permitting employment in the United States.

Successful candidates are expected to engage with culturally diverse populations in higher education, integrate evidence-based and inclusive pedagogical techniques and technologies, and maintain high expectations for student learning.

  • A cover letter describing teaching interests and experience. Applicants should detail how their teaching has supported the success of students underrepresented in higher education, particularly students of color and first-generation students.
  • Curriculum vitae, including a list of courses taught;
