Position Description
The UW Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is seeking a full-time fellowship-trained candidate for a faculty position in its widely recognized shoulder and elbow service. The position is for an Assistant Professor, WOT (without tenure) in our academic promotion track. The practice is located at the University of Washington Medical Center. Appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level (without tenure due to funding). Responsibilities could include resident and fellow education, medical student teaching, and clinical or basic research. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice encompassing all aspects of shoulder and elbow conditions, as well as a robust program in clinical research, the study of educational methodologies, or basic research. This position has a flexible start date in the winter, spring or fall of 2023. Assistant Professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
Qualifications
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), be board certified (or eligible) in orthopaedic surgery and have completed a fellowship (or foreign equivalent) in shoulder & elbow surgery.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
