Enter Second Year Review Decisions in Workday

After all Second Year Review decisions have been voted on by a department/unit’s faculty, those decisions need to be logged into Workday as follows:

In each employee’s Workday profile, go to the academic field on the left-hand side and click the “Update” button on the appropriate academic appointment (this will be either the Primary appointment or a Joint appointment. Only update the information for the appointment in your unit).

Under “Start Date,” enter the start date of the appointment for which the reappointment decision is being made. Again, do not enter any date other than the appointment start date for this step.

In the “Reason” field, choose Update Academic Appointment > Faculty Mandatory Promotion Progress Decisions

Choose the appropriate decision and take the following action:

If this is the employee’s initial Second Year Review:

Faculty

Update Academic Appointment > Faculty Mandatory Promotion Progress Decisions > Second Year: Renew

  • No other changes to the appointment are necessary.

 

Update Academic Appointment > Faculty Mandatory Promotion Progress Decisions > Second Year: Postpone

  • Change the Academic Review Date to next year (3/16/2020). This employee will show up on next year’s spreadsheet.

 

Update Academic Appointment > Faculty Mandatory Promotion Progress Decisions > Second Year: Non-Renew

  • Change appointment ‘End Date” to end of next academic year (6/15/2020 for 9-month faculty, 6/30/2020 for 12-month faculty). Unit will need to terminate the employee at end of next year.

Librarians

Update Academic Appointment > Librarian Mandatory Promotion Progress Decisions > Sr. Assistant Librarian Third Year: Renew

  • No other changes to the appointment are necessary.

 

Update Academic Appointment > Librarian Mandatory Promotion Progress Decisions > Sr. Assistant Librarian Third Year: Non-Renew

  • Change appointment ‘End Date” to end of next academic year (6/30/2020). Unit will need to terminate the employee at end of next year.

 

If the prior Second Year Review decision was a Postponement:

Faculty

Update Academic Appointment > Faculty Mandatory Promotion Progress Decisions > Postponed Second Year: Renew

  • No other changes to the appointment are necessary.

 

Update Academic Appointment > Faculty Mandatory Promotion Progress Decisions > Postponed Second Year: Non-Renew

  • Change appointment ‘End Date” to end of next academic year (6/15/2020 for 9-month faculty, 6/30/2020 for 12-month faculty). Unit will need to terminate the employee at end of next year.

 

Once the Second Year Review decision is made and any necessary changes are made to the appointment, click “Submit.”
