  • Salary Requirements:
    • Must meet University minimum. Acting Instructors¬†whose primary duties do not include teaching must meet minimum FLSA salary requirements
  • Full-time/Part-time: Both. If primary duties do not include teaching, must have a full-time appointment. The percentage of appointment must be clearly documented at the time of hire
  • Promotable: No
  • Competitive Recruitment Required: No
  • Required Approvals: AHR approval not required prior to OPUS entry

Reappointment Details

  • The reappointment decision must be made each year, six months (or in the case of an initial annual appointment, three months) before the appropriate expiration date
  • Acting appointments are for one year or less, limited to 4 years in any one rank, or 6 years maximum in combination of acting titles

  • Emeritus Eligibility: No
  • The unit should attempt to obtain such a letter with a statement from the faculty member indicating the name and address of next employer
  • Separation action needs to be entered in OPUS
