The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department of the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) invites applications for a full-time position of Chief of Clinical Microbiology with emphasis on Molecular Microbiology. The VAPSHCS is a University of Washington-affiliated tertiary, referral hospital system with active research and teaching programs. Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD or foreign equivalent and be Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or Clinical Pathology with subspecialty training and/or experience in Microbiology and Molecular Pathology. The successful candidate will participate in Clinical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology (if appropriately qualified) diagnostic services of the VAPSHCS and will provide specific leadership for the Microbiology section of the laboratory. The candidate will demonstrate administrative experience in Clinical Microbiology and Molecular Pathology, is expected to participate in the training/teaching programs and may qualify for appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor without tenure in the Department of Pathology and/or the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to the fields of Clinical Microbiology, Molecular Pathology and/or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology, by drawing upon their significant experience in those areas.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
